Shatter Cowl Knitting Pattern
She picked up the last fragment, carefully maneuvering the sharp jagged edge away from her skin and clothes. The last thing she needed was another scar. Yet as her hand passed across the window the sun caught the ceramic, lighting up the broken seams of the crackle glazing, and the beauty that had first drawn her to the dish struck her anew. Yes, it was more thoroughly broken now; she’d never drink tea from it again, yet the beauty of the dueling colors held. No, this won’t go in the rubbish. She rested it on window sill just above the sink. Now to finish calming down and get ready for her date. So what if it was her first in a decade … she was still beautiful despite her breaks.
Inspired by crackle glazed pottery the Shatter cowl boasts an asymmetric central pattern which does not repeat. Tonal yarns in similar shades blur the boundaries between broken and whole, creating the look of delicate and realistic fractures, broken and beautiful.
