She tucked in the errant curls that spilled down the side of her face and smiled. There wasn’t much time left, but it didn’t matter. The cap would keep her warm no matter how long it took them to cross the heath, and the pebbled pattern in the knit peppered the surface like kisses. Would he get the message? She’d know in moments. Yes, she was ready, and he would be there soon.
